Optimization and Sampling Under Symmetry: Part 1 -- Examples
Friday, September 3rd, 2021, 2:00 pm–3:00 pm
Speaker:
Nisheeth Vishnoi (Yale)
In this talk, we will present basic examples of nonconvex problems in continuous optimization and sampling where symmetry plays -- implicitly or explicitly -- a key role in the development of efficient algorithms. We will also reflect on why symmetry may arise in optimization and sampling problems.
