I will discuss two recent projects that strive to measure less but infer some or more about buildings/bridges and graphs. In the first project, our goal is to collect data about buildings and bridges for efficient, effective structural health monitoring. In the second project, our goal is to collect boundary measurements on a graph and to infer its "material" properties, using a mathematical generalization of optical tomography.
