Starting with the definitions of braid groups, Hecke algebras, and a few of their representations, I plan to describe what I have learned in an effort to understand the use of Fibonacci anyons in quantum computation.  The most relevant of those representations turns out too have interesting combinatorial symmetries, which become more visible in the light of some additional symmetries of the braid groups themselves.
