Protecting Privacy in Practice

This presentation will showcase two ongoing projects. The first one is an effort to protect two years of COVID-19 symptom reporting from over 200 countries, collected on a daily basis from over 100 million respondents. Respondents had been shown a rigorous consent statement in GDPR countries, and the challenge is to preserve the data in a most valuable format past the two year data deletion promise. The second project, the Transatlantic Privacy Perception Tracker, is a forward looking project, where we are trying to build a panel of privacy stakeholders to capture knowledge, concerns, and suggestions on a regular basis. Doing data collection on experts in a quantitative meaningful way has several challenges with respect to sampling, incentives and retention.
