Yaron Orenstein is a postdoctoral researcher in bioinformatics at the Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (CSAIL) at MIT. Orenstein acquired his computational skills through his bachelors degree in computer science and electrical engineering at Tel-Aviv University (TAU). He continued on to earn a master’s degree in theoretical computer science at TAU, focusing on sub-linear graph algorithms. During his PhD research, he moved into the field of bioinformatics to solve computational problems motivated by biological research. There, he developed an algorithm for inferring accurate protein-DNA binding models from high-throughput data. For the past year, he has been studying computational models for protein-RNA interactions.
