Victoria Kostina joined Caltech as an Assistant Professor of Electrical Engineering in the fall of 2014. Before that, she was a postdoctoral researcher at Princeton University working with Sergio Verdú. She completed her PhD on the information-theoretic limits of lossy data compression in the finite blocklength regime, in September 2013. She holds a Bachelor's degree from the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology, where she was affiliated with the Institute for Information Transmission Problems of the Russian Academy of Sciences; and a Master's degree from the University of Ottawa. Her research interests lie in information theory, theory of random processes, coding, and wireless communications.
