Monika Henzinger is Professor at the University of Vienna, Austria, heading the research group of Theory and Applications of Algorithms. Henzinger received her PhD in 1993 from Princeton University and then joined the Computer Science Department at Cornell University as assistant professor. In 1996, she became a member of technical staff at the Systems Research Center of Digital Equipment Corporation. A few years later, she joined Google as the Director of Research. From 2005 to 2009, she was a professor at the School of Computer & Communication Sciences of EPFL, heading the Laboratory of Theory and Applications of Algorithms. In 2013 she was awarded a Dr. h. c. degree from the Technical University of Dortmund, Germany. Henzinger has received an ERC Advanced Grant, a European Young Investigator Award, an NSF CAREER Award, and a Top 25 Women on the Web Award. She is a fellow of the EATCS and a member of the EU president's Science and Technology Advisory Council, the supervisory board of the Technical University of Munich, the Academia Europaea, the German Academy of Sciences Leopoldina, and the Austrian Academy of Sciences. She has published over 100 scientific articles and is the co-inventor on over 70 patents.
