Josh Bloom is an Associate Professor of Astronomy at UC Berkeley. His research group focuses on understanding the origin of high-energy transients, particularly gamma-ray bursts, and using such transients as astrophysical probes. Bloom is the principal investigator in charge of the largest robotic infrared telescope dedicated to the study of astrophysical transients. He is also co-investigator of an NSF-sponsored project to build a cyberinfrastructure for time domain astronomy.
