Ilya Nemenman
Nemenman obtained his PhD in Physics in 2000 from Princeton. He completed postdoctoral training at KITP/UCSB and Columbia University Medical Center. After working as a Technical Staff Member at Los Alamos National Laboratory, he joined the departments of Physics and Biology at Emory University, where he is now Winship Distinguished Research Professor and Director of the Initiative in Theory and Modeling of Living Systems. He has served as Chair of the Division of Biological Physics of the American Physical Society (APS). His research focuses on information processing in biological systems, from protein signaling in cells to learning and motor control in vertebrates animals. He has received awards from the APS and the James S. McDonnell Foundation.
