Eleazar Eskin
Eleazar Eskin’s research focuses on developing computational methods for analysis of genetic variation. He is currently an Associate Professor in the Computer Science and Human Genetics departments at the University of California Los Angeles. Eskin completed his PhD in the Computer Science Department of Columbia University. After graduation, he spent one year at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, Israel. Eskin's current research interests are to use computational methods to understand the relationship between human genetic variation and disease. This type of research is part of the new interdisciplinary field of Bioinformatics, which draws from many fields including Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Biology and Medicine. Eskin received an Alfred P. Sloan Foundation fellowship in 2009 and was honored with an Okawa Research Grant in 2008. His work is supported by both the National Science Foundation and the National Institutes of Health.
