Dominik is a theoretical quantum physicist working at the interface between computer science, mathematics and physics. In his research, he explores the potential of quantum computing devices with a focus on sampling tasks. To help improve quantum devices, he develops and applies resource-efficient protocols for characterizing and verifying their functioning. His research questions concern both the foundations of physics and computing and practical computational methods for the simulation of quantum system such as Monte Carlo sampling algorithms. Dominik graduated in theoretical and mathematical physics from LMU Munich in 2016, received his PhD from Freie Universität Berlin in 2020, and is currently a Hartree postdoctoral fellow at the Joint Center for Quantum information and Computer Science (QuICS) of UMD and NIST.
