Dhagash Mehta
After receiving his bachelors and masters degrees in theoreotical and computational physics in India, Dhagash Mehta completed Part III of Mathematical Tripos in the Department of Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics at the University of Cambridge in 2004. He then went on to pursue a PhD at the University of Adelaide in applied mathematics and mathematical physics, during which time he found a deep connection between a sub-branch of lattice quantum chromodynamics and algebraic geometry, and solved the corresponding problems using computational algebraic geometry techniques. He obtained his PhD in 2011. He has held research positions at the Theoretical Physics division of Imperial College London, the Department of Mathematical Physics at the National University of Ireland, Maynooth, the Department of Physics at Syracuse University, the Department of Chemistry of the University of Cambridge, and the the Department of Mathematics at North Carolina State University. He works on applications of computational algebraic geometry methods to theoretical physics, theoretical chemistry, and mathematical biology, synchronizations of networks and engineering (control theory), and advancements of the methods themselves by developing algorithms to solve problems arising from the aforementioned areas of science and engineering. He has published 38+ articles in peer-reviewed journals and conference proceedings. He is a winner of the British Council Researchers' Exchange Programme (2007) and the Australian Government's Endeavour-IPRS award (2005).
